Jennifer King
Columnist and Managing Editor
"The Heretical Housewife"
Jennifer
King is a 1983 graduate of the University
of California at Los Angeles, where she majored in history and minored in
anthropology.
She was certified as an NAUI SCUBA Instructor in 1983, as a Los Angeles County Instructor in 1985 and as a PADI Instructor the same year. She taught aerobics and SCUBA diving in the L.A. Area 1983-86 and staffed numerous L.A. County dive programs. She also served as Seminar Director for the L.A. based dive show from 1988 to 1993. She's also had the opportunity to have worked for UNEXSO on Grand Bahama Island from 1986-87.
From 1987-90, she worked for a dive equipment manufacturer, started her own business and was elected 1st (and only) woman President of the L.A. County Underwater Instructor's Association.
She founded the Women's SCUBA Association in 1992, and the Women's Equipment Test Team in 1993. She has been and continues to be involved with the testing of SCUBA equipment for women and children since 1993, and is a Co-founder of the Women Divers Hall of Fame (2000), and was made a Trustee of WDHOF in 2001.
Jennifer has written numerous articles for SCUBA diving magazines and publications. She started writing political articles in 1998, getting published in local newspapers, and has been a columnist for The American Partisan since early 2000. She became a member of the Executive Committee in November 2001 and Senior Associate Editor in December 2001.
A little known fact about Jennifer is how she came to embrace conservative ideas and ideals:
She was having a conversation with her mother and they were discussing Rush Limbaugh, with Jennifer questioning her mother on how she could listen to that. Jennifer's mom then challenged her to listen to Rush for 30 days and see whether or not he made a lot of sense - oh, and by the way, the bet was $100. Even today, Jennifer considers it among the best $100 she's ever spent.
Jennifer is married and the mother of two boys. They live in Florida. ***
