It Doesn't Add Up

The
trend towards the homosexualization of society both in America and elsewhere
in the world over the last decade or so, more so within the past few years is
more than just a tad disturbing. While Jerry Falwell may sound a little extreme
at times with his saying the Teletubbies (Tinky-Winky in particular) promoted
homosexuality, there is an increasing and disturbing trend of homosexuality
being promoted in America. This campaign has worked its way into our schools
with the most notable instances being the instructions given in a Massachusetts
school conference workshop on the practice of 'fisting' on the one end, and
ex-Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders advocating masturbation in the elementary
school grades on another. The disastrous effects of this breed of 'social experimentation'
are reaping a whirlwind of needless and devastating destruction across America
and elsewhere.
In yesterday's paper, I read where the new leader of Namibia in the African continent has outlawed homosexuality and lesbianism. The ensuing results of this are that many of that 'persuasion' are fleeing to South Africa - a nation where sexual orientation is a protected right under their Constitution. These people need to understand something, and that is regardless of what 'lettered' and 'educated' people may think, the argument that a person is born gay is just that - an argument. It has not been positively established one way or the other. In fact, I believe it to be a choice - that's right - a choice, not a predisposition. Nobody is coerced to practice the homosexual or lesbian lifestyle. It is a choice they make to engage or rather, to indulge in these activities. With such a decision comes the potential consequences of such action, be it AIDS or other sexually transmitted disease.
The
increasing trend of the media to promote this lifestyle is reflected in the
casting of a gay character in NBC's "Will & Grace" as well as on ABC's "Ellen",
which was canceled shortly after Ellen DeGeneres made it into a "How to Be a
Dyke" show. I even saw an example of this increasing depravity in a Canadian
TV Guide ad in the current issue (pictured, right), promoting the show "Queer
as Folk", airing on SHOWTIME Television in the United States and SHOWCASE
Television in Canada. It talks about how boy meets boy meets boy and is but
one more example of the slide towards depravity that our modern society is taking.
Sodom and Gomorrah cannot be too far off with the way things are going in some
communities.
Some may think what I am about to say as heresy, and I may be flamed with a lot of hate e-mail, but such is life and if that's the price I must pay to remain true to my convictions, so be it. That truth is simple, inescapable and it is this: NO ONE IS BORN GAY. There. I said it, and not only did I just say it, but I believe that people can change their stripes in this regard. I have seen it happen in the lives of a few people I have known in the course of my lifetime. I have also seen others refuse to make these changes that have resulted in tragic consequences.
Those who practice these lifestyles in the developed world should consider themselves fortunate that they do not live in places like Saudi Arabia for example. Last year, a couple of men in Saudi Arabia were found in shall we say, a compromising position. The Saudi judicial system dealt with them swiftly, surely and harshly. They were each sentenced to five years in prison and to receive 2600 lashes. Keep in mind that the human body in this case can only handle 25 lashes or so at a time and then only once every two weeks. In other words, they are going to be lashed with a cat-o-nine tails every two weeks for four years. All for the so-called pleasure of a few minutes with one of their own kind. Not really worth it when you get right down to it, is it?
If we as a society are to preserve a quality of life that has been the envy of so many in the world, then we need to remember what has worked through the centuries and to learn from the mistakes of the past - for those who do not learn from the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them. ***
