The Double Standard That Is Destroying This Nation

Dave Gibson We hear so much about the evils of discrimination, bigotry, racism, etc., but we only hear about these evils as they apply to Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, etc. However, in the last 30 years there has been another kind of racism occurring in these United States, and it is even government-sponsored. This racist policy of which I speak is one against white people.

It seems to be perfectly acceptable for Louis Farakhan to stand upon the National Mall and call Caucasians "white devils", or Judaism "a gutter religion". It is also acceptable for the Rev. Jesse Jackson to call for a "national day of rage" on Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.

More importantly, this call to arms was passed along by the left-wing news media and went un-condemned by our own government. Can you imagine the reaction that would occur if a similar day was called for by the Sons of Confederate Veterans on Robert E. Lee's birthday?

Conversely, if a white public figure expresses their opinion, they are immediately chastised. We all remember the canning of "Jimmy the Greek" by CBS Sports after answering a few loaded questions posed by a cub reporter trying to make a name for himself. Al Campanis spoke very plainly on ABC's Nightline about blacks not having the mental capacity to work as upper management in Major League Baseball and was fired the next day for these comments (even though several years later almost no blacks are part of upper management in that league). When a black public figure makes a disparaging remark about white people, which most would consider to be at the very least ... very hurtful, they are said ... to only be showing pride in their race. Apparently whites have lost their freedom of speech!

Then we have the practice of affirmative action, i.e. legal discrimination, which even has the U.S. government's "seal of approval," We have been beaten over the head with the notion that it is fine to discriminate, as long as it is against white people. Last year, here in Virginia, Governor James Gilmore (R) did away with Confederate History Month, caving into pressure from the NAACP; they were threatening the state with a boycott. It's funny the governor never asked the good people of Virginia their opinion on this issue. I wonder if they would have risked the boycott?

Why does the FBI get involved in cases of possible racism only when they are against a black person? The FBI was very quick to investigate the death of Raymond Chandler (a black suspect who died in police custody two years ago, in Norfolk, Virginia). But why didn't the feds consider it a hate crime when a local white girl was chased for several miles and killed by a black man on I-64 in 1999? Or when a young man was beaten and shot to death in Chesapeake, Va. during that same year by two black men, apparently for no other reason than being white and in their way? There are countless incidents of white people being brutally murdered at the hands of black assailants......perhaps the government doesn't consider the deaths of white people to be driven by hate.

The government has abandoned all sensibility and has condemned the use of racial profiling, most apparently in our nation's airports. We are so afraid that we may offend someone that everyone is senselessly put through the same screening process and viewed as a potential risk. Forgive me but I do not remember seeing any seventy-year-old women, nor any middle-aged white men on that list of nineteen hijackers that attacked this country on Sept. 11th. We have been so deeply infected with that California-born virus known as "political correctness" that we no longer allow our law enforcement to effectively protect us.

What has occurred in this country within the last 30 years that would cause the American media to become so anti-Christian, while they walk on eggshells so as not to offend any Muslims? At some point, Christianity became the only religion which is considered fair game to bash or even suppress. In today's climate the Boy Scouts are not even immune from liberal persecution; they are held in contempt because of their pro-family beliefs. That kind of logic threatens our very future and defiles the very principles on which this nation was created.

This nation is currently under siege, not only from the Arab-Muslim world but from within. The liberal forces at work inside this nation seek to make same-sex "marriages" a reality, to make it illegal for law abiding citizens to own firearms, and to prosecute people for exercising their freedom of speech. This is the same crowd that tells us we must try to understand why the Muslim terrorists want to kill us, rather than defend ourselves against them. This is also the same group that tells us the U.S. Constitution is a "living" document, so that they might bend it and change it to suit their particular desires.

The left-wing news media, the revisionists, and the liberal politicians have succeeded in ruining our public school system, our military, and have turned most of our cities into ghettos with their anti-family, anti-Christian, and yes ... anti-American policies. Now, a federal judge has banned the Pledge of Allegiance in our public schools! Our foreign born enemies can rest easy tonight, their job is becoming increasingly easy ... we will destroy ourselves before they can do it for us.

This is the only nation that does not feel the need to effectively protect its borders, even while we are undergoing an invasion from the south (Mexico). Not only do we issue visas to terrorists, we issue them welfare checks ... paid for by hardworking American citizens. If this nation does not change the current course on which it is heading ... there will come a day (perhaps in the not-so-distant future) when living, working and raising a family in this country will no longer be viable options. ***
