Apathy Reaches an All Time High...

As this nation sits on the brink of war, as our constitutional rights are being
weakened, and as our very lives are being threatened...it's business as usual.
Gone for the most part are the flags on every house and the determination in
every heart. Gone is the resolve to make this country and this world a better
place.
It may sound strange, however, the days shortly following the horrific 9-11 attacks were amongst the ones that have made me proud to be an American. Though those were dark days...they gave all of us a sense of not only patriotism but resolve. A year later...our government has yet to deliver a 'knock-out' punch to the Arab-Muslim world (most of which would love nothing more than the total destruction of the U.S.).
With every passing day Americans become more complacent and sink ever deeper into the 'comfort zone'. This lethargy serves only to empower the 'blame America first crowd', and strengthens our enemies position (at home and abroad). Will it take another day such as September 11th to awaken us yet again from our self-imposed coma?
When I hear adults engaging in an intense discussion over the virtues of the newest Sony Playststion...I am disgusted. Wake up America! We are not living in peaceful times, and many of our leaders (such as Tom Daschle) hope that you will continue your slumber. The enemy is winning and with the help of the lily-white American liberals...they will continue to do so!
Email your politicians, call the White House, exercise your right to vote, carry a weapon, demonstrate...JUST GET OFF YOUR CAN! We must demand heavy-handed action in dealing with the Arab world. We must also send a message to the mealy-mouthed, lily-livered California communist crowd...Try to find a better country! By the way...Does anyone know why Alec Baldwin has not made good on his promise to leave the country after Bush was elected?
Why isn't everyone angry as hell and demanding swift, irreversible action? Has the California-born virus known as 'political correctness' destroyed our will as well as our freedom of speech? We should demand that every non-citizen living in this country who hails from the Arab world be deported. We should also call for the total destruction of the ability of those nations to ever make war again.
Our parents and grandparents knew what had to be done to make the world a safer place 60 years ago, they also made incredible sacrifices to do so. Now it's our turn. Will we be strong enough to make those same kind of sacrifices? Are we as resolved as our brave ancestors? Or are we more interested in the latest episode of "The Sopranos"?
As we sit idly by and watch this country flushed down the history's drainpipe...we should remember the hardships endured by all the Americans who have fought and died for this country as well as our way of life. We cannot forget the tragic events of last September, nor the decades riddled with cowardly terrorism which emanated from the Arab-Muslim world. We must send a message to Washington : Rid the world of these savages once and for all!
It is time to wake up and smell the coffee. Do not be lulled into a false sense of security simply because the airport screeners frisk a 90 year old white woman, nor because the DMV has made it more difficult for hard working American citizens to obtain a driver's license. We are no safer today than we were a year ago.
This is a time for all-out war. It is also a time for sacrifice. We cannot afford the luxury of relaxation now, we cannot afford the luxury relying solely upon our government to solve this problem. We must do as our parents and grandparents did and make true sacrifices for a better world.
If we are to build a better and safer nation for future generations...we must emulate the actions and sacrifices made by those of the past. ***
