WIMPS!

Timothy Rollins - Beneath the Surface Hesham Mohamed Hadayet (FBI)In the wake of last week's terrorist shootings at Los Angeles International Airport - and yes, Mayor Hahn, it was a terrorist incident, your protests notwithstanding, we have learned once again from some real pros - the Israelis - how to deal with terrorist scum. Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, for whatever reason, went to the El Al Israel Airlines ticket counter and started firing.

Clearly this had to be a kamikaze mission from the get-go and Hadayet knew it. Unlike the wimps at United, American and Delta - not to mention the wussies over at the European airlines that 'wig out' just at the sight of a gun, the Israelis have real cojones. They carry guns and have no compunction about sending someone to their deaths if they feel it necessary to preserve and protect someone from going to theirs.

Perhaps this skill and expertise comes from having enemies all around you. When you are surrounded by folks who are not so much interested, but are fanatically devoted and obsessed on your destruction and eradication from the face of the earth, you are going to get not only good, but swift, effective and even downright creative in ensuring your survival from those who seek your destruction. How this imbecile got this weapon into the terminal at all only goes to show that the "efforts" of the government has taken since 9-11 to tighten security is not only the joke that it is, but in fact, a bald-faced lie.

We cannot rely on government for everything, nor should we - despite what they may claim. A popular poster went around after 9-11 parodying this fact. We as a people need to rely on ourselves - a look at the poster will show you why. The problem with U.S. airlines is that they won't arm their own security people because (1) they don't have or can't find enough security people with prior military experience to serve as professional security officers with authority to carry concealed weapons with authorization to used deadly force if needed - the Israelis' strong suit and why no El Al flight has ever been hijacked; and (2), because the federal government trusts nobody other than themselves. As such, they refuse to indemnify anyone except themselves.

They also refuse to allow the pilots, let alone qualified ground personnel to protect checking in passengers and crew. Because of this, airlines won't play ball for the fear of lawsuits. With the catastrophic financial losses that came with 9-11, one has to ask themselves just how much farther does the country has to slide before the United States arrives at a total police state where the words of the former Soviet Union become our own - those being "Papers, please!"

Which begs the question now before us: which country is the freer of the two - the former Soviet Union and now emerging nation of Russia, or the United States?

You tell me. ***
