JUST
IN THE NICK OF TIME …

With the numerous recent kidnappings of late, it's nice when there's a positive
ending, even when it's a half-win of sorts. With Elizabeth Smart still missing
almost two months now and in all likelihood dead, Samantha Runnion raped and
murdered in California last week and the brave little girl in Philadelphia having
escaped her kidnapper, we are having a problem with animals of the human variety
stealing and violating our children.
Well, it seems that this time the cops were up to the task and that past tragedies have taught them well. It seems that there were a pair of teenage couples having their one-on-one time at a local "Lover's Lane" in the Lancaster, California area when they were forcibly removed from their car, the boyfriends duct-taped and the one boyfriend's Ford Bronco was carjacked by 37-year-old Roy Ratliff on what would be the last night of his miserable, pathetic life.
The
victims - Tamara Brooks (16), and Jacqueline Marris (17 - pictured left and
right), were taken into the high desert of Kern County, raped and about to be
killed when three police helicopters and two sheriff's deputies on the ground
pulled up. Ratliff knew he had to 'get rid of the girls' and given that he disappeared
after getting out on parole last year and was being sought on an outstanding
rape charge to begin with, dropping them off at the post office was not an option.
Realizing this and taking no chances, he was promptly executed by the deputies
on the ground. Great work guys!
For their conspicuous gallantry and bravery far above and beyond the call of duty at the inherent risk of their own lives, these deputies - and the animal control officer who spotted the Bronco should be awarded the Department's Medal of Valor.
With the increasing trend of late of child kidnappings and murders, the latest FOX NEWS/Opinion Dynamics poll has a full 71 percent of Americans favoring a mandatory death sentence for those convicted of murdering children. Now the fact of the matter is that regardless of the liberal left's whining aside (65 percent of Democrats surveyed supported the idea), scum who kill those who have not as yet acquired the skills to defend themselves need to be put to death like the rabid cur dogs they are and to have it done ASAP upon completion of an expedited appeals process that includes mandatory use of DNA to uphold the conviction.
Ratliff was a career criminal with a criminal record dating back to the 1980s in Nebraska and California that included prison stretches for theft, burglary and possession of methamphetamines. He disappeared after his parole in July 2001, which to anyone with an IQ higher than 38 would indicate he had nothing but less than honorable intentions with what he was going to do next.

Ratliff
(left) was a man of dishonor and deceit who seemingly destroyed the lives of
all with whom he came in contact. The seven bullets pumped into him by sheriff's
deputies yesterday was if anything, perhaps the greatest public service of the
year on three fronts: (1), it saved the taxpayers millions of dollars in pre-trial
confinement, trial costs, appeals, incarceration and eventual execution as he
would have been sentenced to die anyway - this simply expedited the process;
(2), expedited the healing process for the victims by ensuring this animal will
never inflict himself either upon them or anyone else again, and lastly (3),
it will hopefully send a message that if you snatch a child, the successful
use of the AMBER Alert system will find you, and destroy you as it did Ratliff.
Ratliff is dead, and it's doubtful anyone will miss him, including his family. Even they more than likely cut their losses at some point. The victims are safe, home and on the road to recovery. Their families and friends will be there to help them on the long way back to what will pass to most of us as 'normal' - however for them, life will never be quite the same again.
The death of Ratliff should at least bring them some comfort - hopefully. With the death of this animal, let it also send a warning to other kidnapper wannabes that an attempt of such magnitude can and will result in the same one-way ticket to hell, where Ratliff and others like him can rot. ***
