HIERARCHY OF EVIL

Say what you want about the tragic shooting in the latest string of sniper attacks, but last Friday's assassination indicates this shooter is either getting desperate or more likely really ballsy, given the shot was taken less than 50 yards from a Virginia State trooper who was working a traffic accident.

In discussing this matter with a friend, it was asked of me why the shooter didn't take out the cop given his exceptional marksmanship skill. My reply was that our society has decided there is a hierarchy of evil - just as murder is the ultimate act of evil, killing a cop is the ultimate act of evil within that hierarchy of murder. What's more, if a cop was taken out, every available cop in the country would be flown in at no charge to work twelve-on, twelve-off shifts to hunt this bastard down and kill him with absolute prejudice. By the time they found this guy, they could get more for him for the hot lead than for the human carcass.

Cops are out on the front lines every day serving and protecting the public at large from the scum and other assorted animals that prey on the otherwise weak and defenseless; as such, they are entitled to special protections within the law. By the same token, cops who break the law are also in a special league of evil all their own, and as such should be mandated to serve enhancer penalties all their own if convicted of said crimes.

With this shooter having succeeded in turning the Beltway into a basket case and parents taking precautions by canceling various activities for their children lest they place their children or themselves in the line of fire, this shooter has shown a complete lack of disregard for civilized society, and as such, my guess is that it's only a matter of time before he is in fact caught and killed, for such a person has an ego that will not allow themselves to be taken alive. And even if they did, the police wouldn't allow such to happen, if for no other reason but to send a message to others seeking to either tie or break such a record.

Should this guy survive capture, there will continue to be those among the Loony Left, chief among them Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (D-MD), who is stupid enough to think a new gun control law is the answer. The fact that this guy is now hunting in Virginia only sets him in far more dangerous waters. Unlike the gutless Governor Parris Glendening (D-MD), Virginia and her people are firm believers in the judicious and expeditious use of capital punishment. Unlike Texas which uses the needle, Virginia still straps their condemned in the chair, plugs them in, throws the switch and passes the popcorn - and next to Texas, their death chamber is more prolific than that of any other state in America.

So it seems that this sniper has - in addition to a major chip on his shoulder, a mega-death wish. Here's hoping that the law-abiding citizenry in America and elsewhere is able to call upon the best in law enforcement and upon the Almighty through prayer in bringing an end to this nightmare and that this animal may be found and be put to death quickly, brutally and in a manner befitting his crime.

It cannot happen soon enough - for all of us. ***
