In Memory of The Fallen 9-11-2001TARGET-RICH ENVIRONMENTS

Timothy Rollins - Beneath the SurfaceWith the deaths of three professors and the shooter at the University of Arizona (UofA) College of Nursing in Tucson on Monday, we find ourselves at yet another crossroads in the hypocrisy of the Liberal Left and their ongoing crusade to disarm the American people. We also find yet another effort by mainstream media whores to paint another fine group of honorable men and women - specifically Gulf War Veterans with the same brush as this nut (last time it was Vietnam vets, remember?) because of the isolated actions of one psycho acting on his own. The obsession - no, make that fixation with tarring and feathering isolated wackos and pinning them to a whole group within society so as to tear down and negate the positive accomplishments and contributions of others as a whole seems to be a sickness that has plagued the mainstream media as far back as I can remember and seems to show no signs of abatement anytime soon.

TAP Columnist Rachel AlexanderIn a recent conversation with my good friend and colleague Rachel Alexander (right), she informed me that while attending law school at the UofA five years ago, there were signs all over campus advertising that it was a "GUN-FREE ZONE" - in other words, it was a declaration and invitation to any and all whose elevators did not service the top floors that if they were to have (for lack of a better phrase) "the ultimate Big Mac attack", that there was no better place to open fire on innocents than on campus where students were unarmed and totally defenseless. In other words, hunting season was open, and there was no bag limit. Perhaps that's why attacks occurred at schools such as Columbine and others like it throughout America and even in the gun control paradise of Canada (thank you, Bill C-68), so we have before us the fact that clearly shows us that both gun-free zones AND gun control DO NOT WORK!! Are you hearing this, liberals??

What we have here is a clear disregard for the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. In an e-mail received earlier this year called "Gun Refresher Course", this golden goodie was among them, and it read: "Gun control is not about guns; it's about control." Another one on that list was "An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a victim." Clearly, truer words were never spoken!

The only reason government wants our guns is they know that with them, they can control us and take steps towards imposing a totalitarian system of 'government' upon us and keep us completely under their thumb. As long as we have guns, they know there is accountability and that we - the citizenry - have the upper hand, and that we, the people rule. As has been said before in this column and others, our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor in establishing this great land in order that we may enjoy the blessings of freedom and liberty, and as such, we have a sacred charge to ensure that our children, our children's children and their children may also enjoy those blessings in their lives as well. The fact is that I have long believed that the Constitution of this great land was crafted by wise men who had been raised up by the Lord for this very purpose only serves to reinforce the responsibility each of us have in ensuring that the freedoms we have now are preserved for those who will come after us.

Citizenry is more than mere possession of a birth certificate, voter registration card or a passport; it involves and requires active participation in the process by which we govern ourselves, and nowhere is this clearer than the manner in which we defend ourselves. Cops cannot be our 24-hour a day protectors unless we have the funds to put them on our private payroll, which most of us certainly do not. To that end, we should be the first line of defense through the proper purchase and training in the use, care and maintenance of our own personal weapons - to include qualifying twice a year in the use of the weapon for score. One need not compete with one's friend or neighbor, but only with oneself.

National Rifle Association

The National Rifle Association - despite its constantly being maligned by the liberal media, network television and high profile personalities the likes of Rosie O'Donnell and other America-haters, is nonetheless the best organization from which to obtain referrals for the proper training of oneself and for age appropriate family members, to include children under proper adult supervision - after all, I was trained on rifles and pistols at age 14 at the Holladay Gun Club with my father and three of my brothers on Saturday mornings.

Unless the gun-free zones are systematically and immediately eliminated, our children and others will continue to be at risk from those isolated wackos who, with whatever axe they have to grind, will engage in these random and senseless acts of violence. Unless those who are qualified to and desirous of having guns and carry permits are allowed to carry them - and use them if need be in a self-defense situation - even in school zones, hospitals and shopping malls, our children and families will continue to be in needless and preventable danger.

With the events of 9-11, the terrorist shooting at LAX on the 4th of July at the El-Al ticket counter and now the Beltway sniper having turned out to have been a Muslim affiliated with the Nation of Islam, the need for us to be on our toes and ready for any contingency only further reinforces the vitality and expediency in eliminating gun-free zones, with the exception of police stations, prisons, post offices, court houses and banks.

For unless we take this corrective action - and now, you can only expect the body count to continue to pile up. ***
