Rush
is Right

I
will make no apologies for it: I am a fan of Rush Limbaugh! After first discovering
his broadcast in 1992, I have been a devoted listener ever since.
His daily radio program broadcasts his insight and wisdom to millions for 15-hours a week. In a story that could only happen in America, an unknown DJ from the Midwest became the most powerful and influential broadcaster in America.
That is definitely a good thing for America.
Nobody is better at making the complex simple, deciphering the rhetoric, or just simply cutting through all the crap than Rush Limbaugh (right). You cannot listen to the show for a week and not realize that Limbaugh is a man who dearly loves what he is doing.
In quite possibly the only incident that he was ever right about anything, Al Gore praised Rush Limbaugh in his NAFTA debate with Ross Perot. Al Gore was right. Rush is truly a statesman and a great American. He loves this country. He has tasted its bounty. He has reaped the benefits of its prospects of equal opportunity for all.
It’s been a little less than a year ago that Rush announced to the world that he was deaf, after contracting Auto-Immune Inner Ear Disease. However, his regular listeners had known something was wrong with him for several months before his announcement. Many of them incorrectly thought it was a throat or voice related problem.
After his audience learned of his hearing loss, it was nearly painful to listen to his show. Only the most heartless liberal could have taken any glee in listening to the dead air time, waiting for Rush to respond to his callers’ transcribed remarks.
Limbaugh underwent successful surgery in December in Los Angeles to install a cochlear implant. He returned to the air in January.
However, I believe Rush has been re-energized since his surgery. Perhaps, like many of us, it took a great personal loss to fully appreciate that which he had. For a man who truly loves music and does verbal impressions of celebrities, the loss of his hearing must have been devastating.
But in his time of great personal and professional crisis, Rush’s never-say-die optimism won the day! Limbaugh showed his fans and critics alike that he tries to live by those things he preaches on his daily radio broadcasts.
Rush refused to live under the circumstances. Instead, he climbed on top of them.
The post surgery Rush is clearly at the top of his game! The past few months have reminded us all of how great he is at his profession. Limbaugh makes it look easy. He makes you think anybody can do it. His insights have been keen and consistent. Rush has been unflappable in the face of criticism. And now more than ever, he once again appears to be "having more fun than the law should allow."
Despite
claims to the contrary by his detractors, Rush does not always toe the Republican
Party line. In fact, he has often criticized the actions of President George
W. Bush (left) whenever our nation’s chief executive has drifted from the conservative
cause.
If you’ve never listened to the man, you owe it to yourself to give him a chance. Rush’s continuing success is a constant inspiration for me to actively pursue my own dreams. On a daily basis, he routinely inspires his listeners to succeed and he shows each one of us how it can be done.
I am delighted Rush’s surgery has been successful. I am pleased that he is back. And I think America should rejoice in his return.
Mr. Limbaugh’s indomitable good humor, his unchanging sense of optimism, and his boundless drive to succeed are an example to every American citizen. Moreover, in these days of terrorism, war, and economic uncertainty, Limbaugh embodies all of the qualities that America desperately needs. ***
