Judge Roy Moore...You Stand in that Courthouse Door!
by Dave Gibson, Columnist

August 28, 2003

Dave Gibson The recent clash between the Christian-hating left and the God fearing people of Alabama and the heroic, defiant actions of Judge Roy Moore remind me of the fearless efforts of another man from Alabama...Gov. George Corley Wallace. Judge Moore is standing up for not only his Christian beliefs but for those of his fellow Alabamians as well, just as Gov. Wallace stood up to the federal thugs when they tried to tell the people of Alabama how to run their state.

Whether or not the left understands or likes it... our laws are based upon Christian ideals! The Ten Commandments could almost be considered a kind of 'rough draft' for the laws which govern these United States. The left's action to try to force the removal of anything bearing Christian principles from our courthouses, not only shows their bigotry and hatred for Christians but also their ignorance.

This particular effort was brought about by the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State. That group boasts of having 60,000 members nationwide, while existing in a country of over 300 million people. However, I am certain that they would bristle at being called a 'fringe group'.

Here in Virginia, AU has opposed legislation which allowed schools to display the phrase "In God We Trust", as well as a moment of silence each day in Virginia's schools. They also attacked the 'Charitable Choice' initiative, which would allow churches to receive federal funds to help administer services to those in need. This group even opposed the "God Bless America" license plate which we now have in Virginia. These people simply cannot live with the fact that others believe in a higher power and are not ashamed or afraid to show it! (All of the aforementioned measures passed the Virginia General Assembly.)

AU regularly hands out awards to political lowlifes such as Congressman Bobby Scott (D-VA), for his efforts in trying to defeat President Bush's 'Charitable Choice' law. That measure would put federal monies into the hands of local charities to help feed the homeless, buy medicine for the indigent, and allow community charities which regularly operate on a shoestring budget to help people more effectively. Liberal stooges like Booby Scott and AU would rather pump more hard-earned tax dollars into bloated, useless federal welfare programs.

Christianity is the only religion in this country which is considered perfectly acceptable to bash. We even have a United States Senator (Charles Schumer (D-NY)) openly discriminating against judicial nominees because of their religious beliefs! Can you imagine the fallout if Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) said that he doesn't believe any Jew should ever be allowed to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee, because it may draw the U.S. into a war with the entire Arab world? You see folks...White, Christian men are no longer entitled to opinions.

This nation has reached a crossroads, which path we now choose will determine our fate. Do we turn our collective back on our proud past and the ideals upon which this nation was founded? Or do we deliver a resounding blow to the left and support Judge Roy Moore and all of those willing to stand up to the face of tyranny? The choice is ours. ***
