The Clown Princes of Conservatism

"Leaning Left"
It's been an entertaining week. Last Sunday on ESPN, Rush Limbaugh forgot that
he was there to talk about football and began talking about race and the liberal
media. The liberal press, he opined, gives mediocre Black quarterbacks a free
pass.
Forget for a moment that the liberal press doesn't even cover sports. I read the sports pages and I've yet to see any sign that sports reporters know the first thing about politics, government, or American history.
They do, however, know sports, and pointed out in numerous next-day columns to El Rushbo that Donovan McNabb, the quarterback he called "mediocre," had led his team to two NFC Championships and had been chosen for the Pro Bowl three times by his peers.
But suppose Rush is right: the liberal conspiracy has reached the Sports Page, and liberals are now gleefully at work saying nice things about just-average Black athletes. The danger to conservatism is great. Now we must wonder if Wilt Chamberlain actually scored 100 points in a basketball game or if Tiger Woods really drives the ball that far.
It could all be part of a liberal conspiracy.
It could also be the result of unique chemical interactions within Rush's brain. Late today word comes that Mr. Limbaugh may be under investigation by the Palm Beach County state attorney's office over the purchase of illegal prescription drugs in South Florida. The golden-throated one is alleged to have urged his housekeeper to keep him supplied with painkillers after a prescription ran out. While Rush today pledged his cooperation with police, he also hasn't denied the accusation.
We feel your pain, Rush.
But things at the EIB Network pale in comparison to Arnold Schwarzenegger's now infamous "Running Man" bus tour extravaganza. After a Los Angeles Times story about close encounters with six women between 1975 and 2000, the GOP swallowed the news that their front running candidate is now a confessed pot-smoking womanizer who favors abortion rights and affirmative action. No that's Arnold Schwarzenegger, not Bill Clinton. Well, I always say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
The GOP now becomes the GrOPe Party. I'm still amazed at the speed with which America's Hollywood-detesting, conservative party embraced a Hollywood star as soon as one announced his allegiance to the cause.
Thank goodness I'm a liberal who favors colorless, bland politicians like Gray
Davis. I don't think I could take years of Playful Arnold in Sacramento, representing
my political beliefs. Fortunately, I don't have to--he's a Republican problem.
