Its
Her Party: Why Hillary Must Run in 2004

You
can take this to the bank: Hillary Clinton (right) will be on the presidential
ticket in 2004. This is not some wild prediction, trying to be the first. It
is simply the way I see things happening, based on my study of the Clintons.
If President Bushs poll numbers had continued to make him look invincible, then the likelihood of a Clinton candidacy would have quickly faded. However, with the latest polls making Bush look somewhat vulnerable to a presidential challenge, then the former first lady has no choice but to throw her hat in the ring.
Hillary cannot risk the possibility that another Democrat would win the office in 2004. That scenario would mean that Hillary would have to wait until 2012, when she wouldnt be challenging an incumbent of her own party.
Another problem with Hillary not running this time is the difficulty she will have in getting reelected to her Senate seat in 2006. If she sits out this presidential race and President Bush does indeed win a second term, her presidential aspirations could be quashed by the senatorial campaign she faces in two years. In order to be a viable Democrat presidential candidate in 2008, Hillary absolutely must win reelection in New York. And the only thing standing in the way of the Clinton machine is an immensely popular, former mayor named Rudolph GiulianiAmericas mayorthe man who gave calm and capable leadership to a city in crisis!
In 2000, Rudys personal difficulties would have complicated his quest to defeat Hillarys bid for the Senate. But like many other things in America, that all changed in the aftermath of September 11th. Should Rudy choose to run, his personal baggage would no longer be a detriment to his electoral fortunes. And when it comes to personal and political issues, Hillary already owns more baggage than American Tourister! Therefore, Giuliani is the one New Yorker who could kick the wheels off her formidable political machine.
Make no mistake about it; Hillary is not a party loyalist! She would much rather see Bush win another term than a Democratunfettered with the Clintonstaking the oath of office in January of 2005. And in Hillarys lexicon of politics, patience isnt a virtue and time is not kind.
Bill Clinton is definitely working with her. Not that Hillary wants his help, but she clearly needs it. She wants to go to the Oval Office and he wants another go at the White House interns. They may not share the covers, but Bill and Hillary Clinton are the strangest pairing of political bedfellows Washington has ever seen. In the game of politicsalbeit in little elsethey are certainly a team!
Hillary wants what she has always wanted more power. Her ruthless desire for clout drove her to attach herself to a politically ambitious but amoral man whose electoral fortunes could win that which Hillary feared she could never win on her own. From there, she hoped to use that power as a conduit to the nations highest elective office. And true to form, Hillarys parasitic ascensions may be her modus operandi for ultimately becoming President of the United States.
The sudden candidacy of Gen. Wesley Clark, the friend and political ally of the Clintons, is little more than a means to sneak Hillary into the White House and to damage the Democratic front-runners. Should the paper shuffling general actually win the nomination and stand a legitimate chance of beating President Bush, then she may choose to be his running mate. If Clark falters, DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe and Bill Clinton may pressure the other candidates to select Hillary as a running mate. The two of them may even sabotage the other candidates and orchestrate a "Draft Hillary!" scenario for the top slot.
To run as the VP candidate, I am not certain if Hillary has to step aside from her Senate seat. Her addition to the ticket energizes the hard-core liberal base of her party. Should the Democrats lose, nobody blames the running mate. Clinton keeps her Senate seat and her chances are not irreparably harmed for her partys presidential nomination in 2008. But if they win, she schemes and improvises. Perhaps shes hoping the president falls victim to another Arkancidethese are the strange deaths that routinely occur to anyone intimately associated with the Clintons. Then Hillary finishes out the remainder of his term and runs for two more of her own.
As the candidate or as VP, she will be on the ticket! More than anything else, Hillary wants to be president. She believes this is her time. And Hillary will do anything to get it.
Anything!!! ***
