Is It Election Day, Yet?

"Candidly Yours"

Linda A. Prussen-RazzanoLike a weary child on a cross-country road trip, I am sick of the political scenery. I want to be able to watch Fox News without feeling compelled to fling my bedroom slippers at the screen. I want to stop hearing the monotonous John "Glorinton" Kerry, a man who unfortunately possesses all of Al Gore's charm, measured in milligrams, and Bill Clinton's ability to lie habitually, measured in parsecs.

I want all the pundits who ignored Bob Dole's record of bravery and sacrifice to stop lauding the four and a half months Kerry spent in Viet Nam. If bactine and a Band-Aid earned this man a Purple Heart, then the Army owes my father many more for his injuries in Korea, and should ship a case to my son for his valiant efforts in conquering our neighborhood sidewalk.

I want Kerry to stop lying when he claimed that President Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Kerry himself co-sponsored Resolution #71 (January 28, 1998) and Resolution #78 (March 12, 1998), citing the known threat from Saddam's weapons of mass destruction and authorizing the President to "to take all necessary and appropriate actions to respond to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." I want Kerry to stop throwing a hissy fit because President Bush has the guts to do what President Clinton did not.

I want Maureen Dowd to retire, already. After writing any number of sanguine filled columns on the plight of the Albanians, all the while ignoring the destruction of Serbian churches and the KLA's connection to a heroin-for-arms terrorist ring, she is more than happy to lynch President Bush for freeing an entire country from the grip of tyranny, crushing several terrorist groups, and keeping the US attack-free since 9-11. Many on the left thought that President Clinton's war with Serbia (a war that was not sanctioned by the United Nations, not sanctioned by Congress, and waged against a former WWII ally that posed no threat to us) was a great humanitarian effort. Yet, they are frothing at the mouth because we did the same thing in Iraq. What's a matter, Maureen, these folks not white enough for you? They don't drink Pepsi and "look like us," so they aren't worth saving?

I'm tired of finding my entertainment options limited because actors and entertainers feel compelled to share their political beliefs. My music choices are now limited to a few country singers, and my actors must have Mel, Charlton, Arnold, Clint, or Bruce in their name to even be considered as acceptable viewing material. That's when I decide to put the television on lately. Televisions are not inexpensive to replace, you know.

I'm tired of all the weirdoes and wackos who think it's okay to wear an "I Had An Abortion" T-shirt in public, but are immediately offended when you show them a picture of a butchered fetus, the end result of the slogan they so proudly display.

Don't mind me. I'm just weary. Bone weary. Soul weary. Like an anxious kid riding in a hot car, surrounded by my obnoxious siblings and a barking family dog…I just want the trip to be over.

God, is it November, yet? ***
