In Memory of The Fallen 9-11-2001AN OPEN LETTER TO OUR READERS ...
by Timothy Rollins, Editor and Publisher

August 16, 2004

Timothy Rollins - Beneath the SurfaceFor openers, as editor, I would like to convey my deepest apologies to our readers and friends of The American Partisan across America and around the world, as I explain here why we were away involuntarily for three months.

The divine comedy of errors - or trip through the paths of hell as you may choose to look at it - had its beginnings in May as I began the final preparations for my wedding. This was complicated by a couple of other factors that I simply had not anticipated. When I moved in with my wife after the wedding, we took a few days off for a honeymoon down in the Chicago area. On returning home, I made a number of attempts to get the site up and running, virtually all of which failed. At my previous residence, I had DSL service to access e-mail and the Internet. Where I am now, my wife has cable internet, and it seems that the ISP (Internet Service Provider) does not allow the use of File Transfer Protocol (FTP) in the uploading of data to websites for residential accounts. To prevent such from happening, they block Port 21, which is used for FTP access. Consequently, I had to upgrade to a commercial account, which does allow for FTP access, and then there was the problem of my chosen software, which had a coding problem that was my fault which I was not aware of. The last of which was resolved with my tech guy in Toronto, Canada last night after I returned from a trip up there where I had some legal matters to take care of, during which my van was almost stolen and would have, had I not been in the back at the time resting and scared off the thief by knocking on the inside window.

Lastly, there was the problem with my computer having a particularly stubborn virus that simply would not go away no matter how hard I tried. Well, during the early morning hours, an update of the anti-virus software I have, FINALLY eliminated that problem, thus allowing The American Partisan to continue.

So… in a nutshell, it is GREAT to be back, and there will be articles rolling off over the next few days. Again, I deeply apologize for this problem, and it is my fervent prayer such will never be an issue again as corrective measures and preventive safeguards have been put in place to ensure a repeat does not recur. ***
