O
CANADA!
by Timothy Rollins, Editor and Columnist
Tim takes a look at how one country has the balls to stand up for honour and what it can teach the United States a thing or two about honoring, obeying and sustaining the law, especially when it comes to calling honour killings for what they are.

At
long last, the over three month trial of a Montreal couple and their son has
ended with a unanimous guilty verdict in the first-degree murders of the father's
three teenage daughters from his second marriage, as well as that of a covert
polygamous first wife -- which is not recognized under Canadian law -- and who
had remained in Canada solely on a Visitor's Visa, and who unlike the others,
were legal permanent residents, because the first wife's relationship was deliberately
concealed from Canadian Immigration officials.
The three were convicted Sunday of killing the couple's three teenage daughters, all as the trial judge, Justice Robert Maranger best described it, in "an apparent notion of honour that has absolutely no place in any civilized society," adding in addressing the principal defendant, "the apparent reason behind these cold shameful murders was that four (victims) offended your twisted notion of honour," the judge said.
With
that conviction, Mohammed Shafia, 59, his wife Tooba Yahya, 42, and their son,
Hamed Shafia, 21 (right), were whisked off to prison immediately for 25 years
with no possibility for parole. Unlike the American system that does pre-sentencing
reports and all the other assorted paperwork while giving convicted murderers
and such time to get their affairs in order before heading off to prison as
they do with Illinois' ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich, who JUST got an extra month
before he has to report to Club Fed in Denver (that should have been done before
trial), Canada hands out its sentences ON THE SPOT and carts them off to jail.
Well done, Justice Maranger!
Also
unlike the American system, the trial was not delayed any longer than the three
hours they were temporarily inconvenienced last Friday just before during jury
instructions when some nut job phoned in a bomb threat to the Kingston Court
House in an effort to blow the trial away.
In a statement following the verdict, Canadian Justice Minister Rob Nicholson called honor killings a practice that is "barbaric and unacceptable in Canada." Some may say the Canadians are meek and mild; I say this: In this regard, they don't take crap from anybody.
Contrast that to Dallas, Texas, where some Egyptian bonehead loser named Yaser Abdel Said executed his teenage daughters on January 1, 2008, because they were reportedly dating non-Muslim boys in defiance of 'Daddy Dearest's' rules. Subsequently, this coward fled the jurisdiction and the country instead of being a man and taking responsibility for their actions.
The day after the murders, a warrant was issued for Said's arrest, but it was
not until SEVEN MONTHS LATER -- on August 21, 2008-that a federal Unlawful Flight
to Avoid Prosecution warrant was issued by the United States District Court,
Northern District of Texas, Dallas, Texas, seeking Said's arrest and/or extradition.
Just how much did the FBI drag their feet on this one?!? Keep in mind that when
the FBI issued WANTED posters for Said, that when the politically correct 'girly-men
saw the [ORIGINAL] poster, they had a CONNIPTION and took the original poster
(left) down; consequently, the second [CENSORED] poster was placed up. BOTH
of them are available for viewing on this site.
Having more than likely fled to Egypt, especially with the situation there now,
and with four years having passed, this situation becomes much more complicated,
especially with a sitting United States President who refuses to stare down
the concept of Honor Killings as the incorrigible evil they are, and with too
many federal, state and local leaders lacking the moral backbone to call them
for what they are -- evil, barbaric, and unacceptable under any circumstances
-- America seems to have lost its nerve to bring Said back to Dallas for his
trial and subsequent date with the needle, which Texas Law not only allows for,
but actively and enthusiastically promotes for those so qualified.
Canada showed the world that it actually has the balls to stand up to Muslim extremism. In doing so, it shows that those who actively practice the tenets of Islam or any other faith for that matter, seek to do so for the most part peaceably, and that extremism-in any form-has no place in any civilized society where the common good of all makes us a better, stronger and safer society in which to live, work and raise a family.
If only America would have the common sense to learn from its neighbors in the international community before it's too late, we'd live safer, less complicated lives.
But I doubt it. ***
