Talking and writing, the difference

Unless you are constructing dialogue, do not write the same way that you talk. The written language should be influenced by the spoken language but not controlled by it. To be shunned especially are your set of grammatical tics. For instance: this author says the word ‘like’ far too often but does best to limit its use in print. He also says ‘geez la –freakin—wheeze’ quite a bit but, if you ever see him use that particular concoction in print, please spam him.
